Privacy notice
DishRated 2.0 is designed as a private, local-first meal journal. Your saved meals and DishRated-owned photos stay on your device in the current release.
Effective September 15, 2026
DishRated can save the meal name, meal type, your Taste rating, notes, confirmed meal details, and a photo you choose or take. This information is stored in the app on your device. DishRated does not require an account for the current release.
DishRated asks for camera or photo-library access only when you choose those features. A selected image is re-encoded into a DishRated-owned copy for the local meal record. The app does not transmit the original photo-library asset.
Optional analysis
The TestFlight analysis service receives only the re-encoded photo you approve, to suggest visible foods for your review. It does not receive your meal history, account identity, or provider key. Each tester enters a separately provided access code on their device; the code is stored in iOS SecureStore and sent only over HTTPS. DishRated does not log or store uploaded photos after the request.
The service uses OpenAI Responses with store:false and asks for food suggestions only, never nutrition numbers or scores. OpenAI states that API abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days, with safety or legal exceptions; store:false is not a zero-retention guarantee. The app requires your approval before every transfer and shows the recipient, purpose, retention summary, and this notice.
You can delete an individual meal inside DishRated. The app removes its saved record and its DishRated-owned photo. Removing the app from your device also removes its local app data according to your device and backup settings.
The DishRated website is separate from the local app. Like most hosted websites, its hosting and analytics services may receive technical details such as an IP address, browser type, referring page, and visit timing. Do not submit meal photos or private meal information through the marketing website.
