Making it easier to save a meal in DishRated

The next part of DishRated I want to get right is making a meal easier to save. The purpose is already clear to me: Dana cooks real meals, we score them, and we use our favorites to help choose dinner. Recording the meal should fit naturally into that experience.

There is a practical question behind every extra step: will it help when we come back to this dinner later? A recognizable name can help. A photo can help. A rating can help us remember what we thought. Beyond that, I want to be thoughtful about what is useful and how much effort it takes to enter.

This is a direction for the product, and there is still work to do. I am not treating a simpler entry experience as a finished feature. It is something to build and test against the reason people would save a meal at all: to have a useful record they can return to.

The balance is important. Too little information can leave a meal hard to recognize. Too many required details can make a simple record feel like a chore. I want to find an approach that preserves the useful parts without expecting someone to write a full review of every dinner.

The real meal should stay at the center of that process. If there is a photo, it should show what was actually made. The name should make sense when you see it again. A score should be easy to understand as a personal response to the meal. Making entry easier should support those basics and keep the record trustworthy.

There are questions I still want to work through. Which details matter at the moment of saving? Which details are only useful later? What makes it easy to recognize a favorite when you are deciding what to eat? Those questions give me a way to judge potential changes without assuming every idea needs to become a feature.

For DishRated, that problem comes back to the same everyday habit. A good meal is worth remembering, and remembering it should help with a future dinner. Easier entry is worthwhile if it makes that connection easier to keep. That is what I want to work toward as the product develops: a record of real meals that stays useful after the plate is cleared.

Keep a note of a meal you want to remember.
